March 1, 2005 - I thought that the Democratic Party, in general, prided itself as being the party of choice for a majority of the intelligentsia in this country. With Bill Clinton's escapades, they lost the moral values edge so allowing convicted felons to vote wouldn't be a ding in that category. Now, it looks like they are taking another step backwards by pushing this. They made a big mistake in running the ABB campaign in 2004 and now they are making another by appealing to thugs. I thought the Democrats were above this. They must be losing some of their base. Maybe some of the underprivileged groups they always counted on for votes have seen through the smoke screens and now the party needs to find another pool of "underprivileged" to sell their party line to.

They didn't seem too concerned about a convicted felon's right to vote in 1992 and 1996 leading me to believe they care less about a person's right to vote than they do about finding a person who is likely to vote for their candidate. The issue here is fear of losing another presidential election in 2008 and not making sure every citizen has the right to vote.
