October 19, 2004 - Why does the Democrat leadership constantly bash Halliburton? I would think that a company that has added 44,000 jobs since 1994 and increased their sales from $5.7 billion in '94 to $16.2 in 2003 would be commended for creating jobs and growing in sales. Now, a company like H.J. Heinz Co., which has cut 4,500 jobs since 1994 and sales have stayed stagnant at $8 billion a year....
In 1994: Halliburton - 57,000 employees, $5.7 billion in sales
In 2003: Halliburton - 101,000 employees, $16 billion in sales
In 1994: Heinz - 42,000 employees, $8.1 billion in sales
In 2003: Heinz - 37,500 employees, $8.4 billion in sales
I guess adding jobs and increasing your sales isn't really important to the Democrats because it appears that any company that does this is harangued relentlessly and criticized on end. If I listen to some Democrats it appears that adding 44,000 jobs doesn't help 44,000 families but rather just one individual. John Kerry said recently that if Halliburton made flu vaccines there would be enough for every American. Well, Halliburton appears to doing things right so maybe Halliburton should consider entering a new market segment.

Now to what John Kerry said about terrorism - that we should aim to reduce it to a nuisance. If it were a nuisance, it wouldn't be called terrorism. Terrorism is fueled by radical minds who believe in one thing and are motivated by hatred and disconnectedness. Terrorists are not motivated by profit or the desire to fill a black market need like gambling or prostitution.
