November 3, 2005 - The media made a big stink about ExxonMobil's profits increasing by 75% in the third quarter. In related news, Time Warner posted an 80% profit over the past year. So where's the outrage? Hmmm. Maybe it's acceptable for a company to profit off of crappy movies, high ISP prices, high cable prices, and a host of anti-Bush media outlets. However, when a company makes money off oil, something that has more value to society than a movie that stars Jane F----- and Jennifer Lopez, well the media must paint big oil as the evil businesses that they are. It's evil when ExxonMobil makes a profit but it's ok for companies like Time Warner or H.J. Heinz Co. to make one. To be honest, I would be worried if the oil companies did not make money.
